Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

This is not going to be a real “review.”

If you are a fan of young adult literature and have not read Sharon Creech’s wonderful novel Walk Two Moons  you really should.

Right now.

The year for the first time we read Walk Two Moons with our seventh graders, pretty much on my strong recommendation. The other 7th grade teachers didn’t read the book until they read it with their students.

That’s how much they trust my opinion, I guess.

Two of the three of them cried in front of the classes, one of them cried twice.

I cried as well.

Some of the students cried, too, but fortunately I passed out Kleenex beforehand so we were prepared.

There were lots of laughs along the way, too.  It’s a funny book, in spite of how much it made us all cry.

We loved it.

Can’t wait to read it again next year.

  1. I remember this one. I was blubbering. One teacher I know made a bulletin board of it with a map of the US and they tracked the road trip as well. Great stuff.

  2. Our library has this book but only in the reading room and it cannot be checked out. Amazon Australia does not have it, only the lesson plans to it. I am now determined to find this book bc I am so curious. I did check out two other books (on hold)by this author, your review intrigued me.
