All but Six of the Cool Book Bloggers Have Already Taken the TBR Double Dog Dare

tbr dare 2014As of this morning, 33 of the 39 cool book bloggers have already signed up for The TBR Double Dog Dare.  Dakota, who looks very cool in her dark glasses (She thinks she’s Jackie O.), and I are hoping to get you and the other remaining five cool book bloggers to sign up before midnight tomorrow. (We know you’re cool because you read James Reads Books!)  Who knows, it may turn out that there even more than 39 cool people out there blogging about books.

You can sign up in a comment to this post or in at the TBR Double Dog Dare page, which is actually a little bit cooler than this post is.  I don’t know why, but when you see it, you’ll understand.

The TBR Double Dog Dare is not a challenge, so don’t let your fear of challenges stand between you and cool.   It’s a Dare which means you only have to do it as long as you can; then you can walk away.  With a challenge you either have to complete the entire thing or write a post about how guilty you feel about not completing the challenge.  With the Dare you can just say, “I’m cool,” and move on with your reading.

Plus, keep in mind that while there are many challenges out there, there is only one Dare,

And the “rules” allow you to read the book you have on order or on reserve by midnight December 31, so you still have nearly 48 hours to order books from your local bookshop and to really build up your holds list at your local library before the Dare starts.  The super-cool book bloggers will all be on-line tomorrow night at 11:45 making last minute requests at their library’s website.  I know that’s what I’ll be doing because they say that whatever you’re doing at midnight on New Year’s Eve is what you’ll be doing most of the time during that particular year, so ordering books at the library is a cool choice for 12:00 o’clock on New Year’s Eve.  That and reading, of course.

The “rules” also allow you to set your own rules.  How cool is that?  So if you have some sort of “commitment” to read certain books for your book club, your ARC dealer, your devoted love of certain writers, you can still read those books.  If you’re worried about this making you less cool, don’t be.  It will make you something of a rebel which is considered cool in many circles.

The Dare starts in less than 48 hours so you still have time to join 33 other very cool bloggers for three months of fun!

I’d ask you not to wait for the last minute, but, to be honest, singing up at 11:59 on New Year’s Eve would be very cool.

Now I’m wishing I was cool enough to sign up twice!

  2. That would make you too cool for school, and we can’t have that. ;=)

I love being on the cool list. It validates that part of my soul still stuck in high school, where I was so completely uncool.

I am looking forward to starting the TBR Double Dare in a little over 24 hours.

I wanted to let you know that I am planning to join in on the Deal Me In Short Story challenge, inspired by your posts on short stories.

  5. I am with Lisa. I have added to the time limit of the DDD. I am doing it until 1 June. Not trying to be Ubercool. Want to get some of my books out of the way.

    1. You don’t have to try, you are urbercool. 😉

  6. I like being cool! 🙂 Happy New Year

Remembering the TBRDDD saved me from an impulse book buy online this morning. I should probably keep a tally and donate half to a charity of your choice in April. 🙂
